In the distance off above the coastline; a city shimmered in the air, floating there a couple thousand meters up like it had no right to. Within the walls of the largest building, that looked almost like a palace, a man paced back and forth in front of a large table. Well, not so much a man, he was more of an elemental. Several large maps were strewn across the table, all wildly different, yet of the same region. Each showed a different perspective; one of air, one of water, one of earth and one of fire. Various tiny figures were strewn about on the war maps, indicating troop emplacements.
"Find me that demon!" The elemental shouted angrily at the poor human standing in front of him. He was a thin, pale man with wispy, yet oddly vibrant white hair. He had himself dressed in a pale grey suit. "The council's agents were very close today, and that demon is vital to my plans."
"Yessir, of course sir, we're trying our best. Perhaps if you'd send an elemental or two with us..." The human trailed off, obviously terrified of the elemental lord of air standing in front of him. After a long pause he began to explain himself nervously, "Humans can only do so much, especially if you want this to stay out of the council's sight."
"Perhaps if you weren't so inept, you wouldn't need a babysitter! Though it brings more risk of gaining the council's attention you shall have your elemental. I shall send one of my lieutenants. If you can't handle the job with him, then you are not worthy of life." Stepping forward, Lord Auron looked the human in the eye, "This mission is of paramount importance, this demon is vital to my maneuvers with the earth lord's troops." He paused, addressing no one in particular he continued on, "This of course rides on the water lord honoring our treaty, and once earth falls, fire shall swiftly follow suit. Balance shall be restored..." With this train of thought finished, his attention snapped back to the human in front of him. "You are dismissed ,servant. Take your foul airship out of my city!" With that final snap; wings appearing as if they were made of congealed clouds and tamed lightning shimmered into being behind his back, the elemental lord flew off higher into the palace murmuring about meetings with ambassadors.
The poor human ran terrified out of the hall and vaulted into his VTOL jet. With the scream of turbines and the shriek of air being whipped far faster than it ever should, the graceful machine thundered into the air and rocketed off towards the city.
i love it!
